OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

To enhance the quality of Maritime Education and training in the Philippines;
To create a pool of future seafarers educated under the NSA Training program;
To promote competence among Filipino cadets as future Maritime Officers for NIS owned and controlled fleets;
To prove that Filipinos can become highly competitive seafarers in the international Maritime market.

OBLIGATION OF THE NSA - CADET

The NSA CADET shall comply with the requirements and guidelines formulated by the Project;
The NSA CADET agrees that for every year that he has received the benefits from the Project through their representing institution/school, he shall serve if requested approximately one year on-board a Norwegian controlled ship in a position commensurate with his ability, experience and license.

The NSA CADET fully understands that his employment on-board the vessel shall be the sole prerogative of the assigned Ship-owner, who has the exclusive option not to employ the NSA CADET after each contract period.
The Project and the Ship owner / or his representative agrees that the one year cadetship training shall not be included as part of his undertaking and commitment.
Extension of sea-service is NOT ALLOWED by the Project. This phase is exclusively for the 3rd year education and cadets are required to return in time for their enrolment to 4th year level not later than June of the following year.

Unauthorized disembarkation from assigned vessel at an earlier time than expected is NOT ACCEPTABLE. For health and medical reasons, it must be supported by a medical report by a duly authorized NMD doctor and properly endorsed by the Master / Manning Agent.
The NSA CADET shall maintain a general weighted average of a least 85% (or its equivalent); any grade below 85% shall result to a warning letter. If a cadet acquired a grade of 80% or below, the NSA Project reserves the right to terminate him from the class program; All NSA cadets will be given evaluation tests every semester as part of the intensified assessment system.
If the cadet for any unjustified reason chooses to withdraw from the Project, he shall be liable to pay for the financial support provided to him by the Project.
Each cadet who gets sea-service training shall build up his savings to meet upcoming expenses after two years sponsorship of the NSA Cadet Project; The Project shall not interfere or mediate any negotiations concerning stipends or any other benefits and privileges provided by the company to cadets. Ship owners, Principals or manning agents shall have the full discretion regarding company incentive and benefits.
The NSA Cadet is obliged to stay in NSA Project designated dormitory during and within the scholastic period he is in school and shall abide to all dormitory rules and regulation established by the school and the project.
The NSA Cadet shall undergo an annual comprehensive medical examination in a duly accredited NMD Clinic or Hospital.
